Ribbon Work Wreaths

"I love spring anywhere,
but if I could choose I would
always greet it in a garden."
              ~Ruth Stout

    I have just finished a new project! I recently decided to try my hand at making ribbon work wreaths (like the ribbon work hearts that I have been making since valentines day). I was really happy with how they turned out and there are two now listed in my Etsy Shop! Here are a few photos of them. I will definitely be making more. My Mum has requested one for Mother's day which is just around the corner!

Cream and Rose

"The beautiful spring came;
and when Nature resumes her
loveliness, the human soul is
apt to revive also."
            ~Harriet Ann Jacobs

   I woke up very early this morning for some reason and lay in bed enjoying the rising sun streaming through my window. I think I am on the mend and hopefully I will be myself again soon! The one advantage to getting sick is that I am forced to have some down time and whenever I have that I draw! I have just added two original pieces of artwork to the Etsy Shop - "Marie Antoinette" and "Evangeline".
I took a few random photos the other day and when I was looking at them I realized that they were all very soft and creamy - of course that could be because most of my house is soft and creamy. :) They show a few of my recent finds - a French Provincial chair with beautiful tufted upholstery, a French Provincial dresser in ivory and gold, a gorgeous antique mirror which I painted cream, and more!

Bright and Beautiful

"Man needs colour to live;
it's just as necessary an
element as fire and water. "
               ~Fernand Leger

   I have had a bad bug the last week or so which hasn't been fun. I seem to be catching everything that is going around this year! C'est la vie. I have a few random pictures I took in between feeling rotten. Some of them are of the pretty vintage treasures on my Grandmother's dressing table. I was visiting her not too long ago and the light was pouring through her bedroom windows and everything was just sparkling. Hopefully I will be back on my feet soon and I can go outside and enjoy the beautiful sunshine and whispers of spring!

You can find the china bowl, fabric flowers and ribbon work heart in my Etsy Shop

Outings and Romantic Homes

"Never lose an opportunity
of seeing anything beautiful,
for beauty is God's handwriting."
          ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

    I am so excited to have been featured in the May issue of Romantic Homes Magazine! They contacted me early in the year wanting to do a small piece about my handmade lace Gillyflower brooches and I was thrilled! Romantic Homes has been one of my favourite magazines for many years. The issue came out this week and I was so surprised to find a beautiful two page spread inside it with my photos! Thankyou so much to all the lovely people who have sent me sweet messages about the article! Your support is so encouraging!

This is a gorgeous issue with so many beautiful articles! Be sure to have a look!

I have been to some lovely vintage shops lately and I thought I would share a few snapshots. The first pictures are from the prettiest flower shop that I have ever seen! It was full of antiques and beautiful displays. The second little group of photos are from a vintage clothing store that I visited today. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
